The latest addition to Mark Shepherd’s Sentient City Survival Kit packages up the best lessons of the Situationists into a handy psychogeographical iPhone App. The Serendipator has been nominated for the Transmediale 11 aware and mixes whimsical instructions with deliberately confusing directions to encourage heightened consciousness of our urban surroundings.
Some of the more speculative facets of the Sentient City Survival Kit are more interesting still: imagining a slightly dystopian future where ubiquitous technology will fill our daily lives, the project re-purposes items of everyday utility as means of  survival within the intelligent city of the near future.
